Congress Conditions 2008

Notes:

1.
The congress Director reserves the right to accept or refuse entries or to transfer entries from one Tournament to another.

2. The Chief Arbiter's decision shall be final on any matter regarding the running of the Congress.

3. Players entering the FIDE Open must be registered members of their national federation. Those not registered and resident in England must complete a registration form before the start of the first round.

4.
The published 2007-08 grading list shall be used to determine grades. Ungraded players are defined as not being listed in the current FIDE rating list or in the current ECF or equivalent National grading list. Rapidplay grades will not be classified as a grade for determining prizes. The prize money that may be won by any ungraded player competing in the Major, Intermediate, Challengers, Minor or Rapidplay Tournaments shall be limited to one third of the 1st prize for that event.

5. A 1/2-point bye is permitted provided it is applied for with entry or not later than the day before the round in question. No 1/2-point byes will be permitted in the final round.

6. For further information and for confirmation of entry, please e-mail:
td@surreychesscongress.co.uk

No-Smoking Rule: Players should note that under new UK law smoking is now banned in all inside areas of Nonsuch High School.

Mobile phones: Players are encouraged not to bring mobile phones or electronic storage devices to the venue. If it is necessary to bring such devices to the venue, they must be switched off at all times and not used for any purpose. Any player whose phone makes any sound during play will be penalised.

Late arrival and re-pairing: Players arriving more than 1 hour late or, in the case of Challengers and Minor Tournaments, more than 1/2 hour late, will be deemed to have lost their game by default. Players present, whose opponents have not arrived, must expect to be re-paired 1 hour (or 1/2 hour in the Challengers and Minor tournaments) after the round has started. 15 minutes is the default time in Rapidplay.

Congress Director: Richard W Jones, 38 Globe Road, Ashtead, Surrey, KT21 2NT; e-mail: Rwjonesata@aol.com.
